About Me

Dawn Challoner

A qualified and experienced, person centred, integrative counselling therapist, registered with the BACP – the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.  I am available to work with you privately, one to one, using Zoom for secure video calls, or by phone.

My work elsewhere includes both individuals and groups and I have supported people through change, in the corporate environment, for over 25 years.

As a counsellor I chose, in 2012, to specialise in loss and grief with the bereavement support agency, Cruse and am accredited by them for both bereavement support and supervision.

Additionally I have worked as a sessional counsellor for Mind, helping clients facing a wide variety of concerns from anxiety and depression through to more complex mental health issues.

Having trained to work therapeutically with children and young people I have done so with OTR; I have mentored students at an inner city academy and provided ‘one at a time’ counselling sessions for university under and post graduates. Alongside my work with adults I continue to  provide in-school counselling for secondary school students in Cheltenham.

I spent several years teaching counselling skills at an introductory and advanced level. This included teaching at degree level on an NCS (the National Counselling Society) accredited course awarded by the University of Plymouth, as well as new Counselling programme design with Bath Spa University.

I undergo regular supervision and training, in order to keep my practise safe, ethical, relevant; and as effective as possible.

Working right across the lifespan I particularly enjoy supporting older adults looking to make sense of later life as they approach, plan or reach retirement.

My other special interests include working with those who identify as gender, sexuality and relationship diverse – or wish to explore such possibilities.

My online experience is supported by ACTO (Association for Therapy Online) approved certification and I am as comfortable and competent working this way as I am over the phone or in-person.
